While the store windows entice you with an array of the goodies to be found, not just beautiful hand-made quilts, but books, fabric, and other fun things quilters will love, it is inside that you will find Candy waiting to hear about your plans and projects.

Candy's enthusiasm for all things quilted is unparrelled and she enjoys nothing more than helping her customers find the items they need.
Candy grew up in Avoca, New York, a mere stone's throw from Hammondsport. She started sewing at a very young age, but her talent really took off when she became interested in, or should I say addicted to, quilting.

Candy is always ready to help and encourage her fellow quilters, either with selecting merchandice or with learning special techniques.

The shop offers plenty of classes, and an opportunity to join gatherings like “Chicks with Attitude” and a Redwork Club that regularly meet in the shop. Current offerings include how-to classes for making a chenille scarf and a row-by-row sampler quilt, or work with felted wool. Hammondsport is in New York's wine country, where the sloping sides of the glacier-deepened lake valleys are an ideal microclimate for growing grapes. Long a wine-growing region, the area has blossomed with many fine boutique wineries over the past 30 years.

Candy keeps a wonderful assortment of cottons that feature grapes, wine, and vines great for dining and kitchen-related sewing, and great for a remembrance of your wine tasting tour.

Naturally, boating, fishing and the beauty of the freshwater lake just three or four blocks down the street from the front door have led Hosier to collect some outstanding boating and fishing-related theme fabrics.

This is cold country. Winter in Upstate New York can bring snow as early as Halloween and as late as Easter. So Hosier’s selection of flannels for cozy warmth is fantastic.
